Humanity is Divine

I would like to explore a comment I made in a previous post. I said that I am in LOVE with humanity, especially the human body. I think it is one of the most beautiful things on our planet. I obviously have an ideal body type, male and female, that I find to be perfection but that is irrelevant. I love humanity. It has always intrigued me, my love of history, art, photography and literature are all based in my infatuation/obsession with homo sapiens. I consider myself to be very aesthetic; I will stop and appreciate a spectacular sky, or take a picture of the horizon right after a rainstorm. I love looking at beautiful things, and the human body is one of those things. Which is really only what is in my nature. Humans love to appreciate themselves, we are after all created in the image of God. A perfect being, therefore a copy should be nearly as good. I would have to agree that we are near perfect creatures. The abilities that we take for granted, the thoughts that we have, the dexterity of our fingers, the use we can put our muscles to, all of these things make us divine. Our brains have elevated us to a plane that may or may not have been reached by other beings in the universe. The potential that we have in the future is limitless. Sure our bodies could be better equipped: eyesight, hearing, strength many things that other animals are better at but none have our brains.

The fact that we can create music, paintings, and literature is the manifestation of the divine in each of us. Not all of us may be good or even passable at any of these things but we can still imagine an abstract thought. We are the masters of our own reality and this fact has created some of the greatest things ever. Hoping I would have waxed a little more eloquently on that little piece, but I think I made my point. Our focus for this class is exploring that act. The act of creating that abstract idea. Epiphanies. Anytime we read something we are entering the thoughts of another person, the same as when we hear a great piece of music or see a truly stunning painting we know that similar feelings are being felt by those around them. The communal feeling we get while sharing an epiphany links us all together and that is magical. It is what makes us such an interesting species.
